Schindler's List, Steven Spielberg's epic tale of human triumph against adversity, reenacted the experiences of European Jews during the Holocaust. Now Spielberg wants to give the real-life survivors of those times a voice. Along with Schindler's List producers Gerald Molen and Branko Lustig, Spielberg has founded the Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation to create a videotape database of their stories.
Survivors of the Shoah is working in conjunction with Holocaust scholars, oral historians, and institutions such as the Museum of Jewish Heritage, the US Holocaust Memorial Museum, and Israel's Yad Vashem. More than 2,000 hours of video - indexed by key words, subjects, and phrases - will be digitized and made available to educators and museums via an interactive network. Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation: (800) 661 2092.
