Zink's tiny, pocket-size printer cranks out equally tiny printouts without ink: just hook up a cellphone, perhaps, or another small device that it can read from, and go. The trick is that it does so without ink (Zink means "Zero Ink," see>) It's like a puzzle, until you remember the carbon copies of yore: the hues are present in the special paper it uses.

Dye crystals embedded in the paper (which is reasonably priced at $20 for 100 of the 2x3-inch slips) remain colorless until the Zink applies heat, which alters the color of the crystals. The device will cost $100, with a $200 polaroid-style camera-combo device to follow. Quality yet to be seen.

They also use the same emblem for their logo as Zune. I wonder who was first?
