I have been a subscriber four at least three years. I am also a Chicago based creative director of a design firm. I was very sad to see the design changes to the magazine. It is evident that your new creative director has a desire to prove that he is different or perhaps obscure. Buy why so at the risk of those design principles that effect ruin the readers experience. In two many cases your use of type is too tightly kerned and leading is to small to make reading a strain. Furthermore, the use of type is small and the letterforms, while modern and unique, are a readability challenge.
You have also lost those sections of your magazine that long time readers can jump to. In effect, you have lost consistent flow an obvious content organization.
It seems as though you changed just to say you can with no real functional benefit.
I am going to stop my subscriptions and I am afraid that many other consumer will as well.
Really unfortunate.
