Today is President's Day, and in my neck of the woods schools close all this week for Winter Break. Unless you're a hardy skier or lucky enough to have a tropical vacation lined up, that usually means finding something to keep the kids busy all week without leaving home. That can be tough -- especially this year, when many families have already been snowed in for days or even weeks.
So all this week the creative women at GeekMom will be offering you remedies for Cabin Fever, the madness that can overtake you when you and kids spend a little too much time at home.
In case you missed them, here are some of our previous posts with ideas for surviving cold, snowy days:
- Rebecca Angel suggested a simple role-playing game for kids;
- Kris Bordessa wrote about surviving snow days without sibling squabbles;
- Jennifer Day links to some downloadable paper crafts;
- I show you how to bring back summer with a quick S'More Pie;
- Judy Berna recommends making some Cake Pops; and
- Kalynn Huffman Brower advises taking a cue from the bears and learning the art of hibernation.
So if this winter has you feeling a little like Adam Savage in the Mythbusters clip above, locked in a tiny shelter in Alaska to test the existence of Cabin Fever, we hope you'll find something geeky to help lift your spirits. And feel free to share your own Cabin Fever cures in the comments!
