LOS ANGELES – Ubisoft will release the third entry in its jungle-romping Far Cry series for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC next year, the publisher said during its E3 conference Monday.
[eventbug]Developed by Ubisoft's Montreal team, Far Cry 3 will feature a smorgasbord of action, stealth and first-person shooting. Playing as island-stranded protagonist Jason Brody, you'll have to fight your way through an island full of lunatics and all sorts of other less-than-savory characters.
Ubisoft demonstrated some gameplay footage during its E3 presentation here. As Brody, you wake up and find yourself face-to-face with a murderous, mohawked psychopath. He briefly rambles about the definition of "insanity" – doing the same thing multiple times and expecting different results – then delivers a bombshell: He's not crazy, but he's killed you multiple times and you just don't seem to be dead. Then he throws you into a river.
Somehow you survive, and after a few minutes of sneaking and shooting your way through baddies, you make your way to an enemy helicopter. You put a gun up to the pilot's head and bark at him to get you the hell off this island, but it's futile – a single missile drives your escape route straight into the ground. The screen goes dark for a few seconds. Then a familiar face: The mohawked guy from before is standing above you.
"Did I ever tell you the definition of 'insanity'?" he asks.
