New Girls Trailer: When Texting Goes Too Far

HBO's Girls is about to return for its second season, and Hannah is about to return to having serious textually transmitted problems.

If there's one great but not-so-obvious lesson to be learned from HBO's show Girls, it's the romantic pitfalls that technology opens up for its twentysomething New Yorkers.

Last season Hannah (played by writer/director Lena Dunham) complained that Adam (Adam Driver) never texted her back. Judging by this new trailer, it looks like he will soon become far more responsive than she bargained for (or wanted), e-mailing her a video of himself singing the worst heart-break song of all time ("Standing outside, you destroyed my heart. Thanks.") and sending up-to-the-second texts like "I'm downstairs" and "I saw you turn your lights off."

Girl, change your number. (By the looks of it, you're due for an upgrade to the iPhone 5 anyway.)

Dunham's Emmy-nominated show has already introduced the concept of sending an iPhone "drop pin" as the cool way to help your friends find you, which coincidentally Hannah did the night Adam became her boyfriend last season. What cool smartphone trick will she use to navigate her love life next season?

We'll know soon. Girls is back for season two on Jan. 13.
