When the Veronica Mars Kickstarter hit the internet a few days ago, many Joss Whedon fans wondered if Firefly was next. The fans didn't have to wait long to hear from Whedon, who addressed the possibility of a Firefly Kickstarter in an interview with Buzzfeed.com yesterday.

In the interview, Whedon says that he is just too busy to even think about trying to revive Firefly right now. This didn't surprise me because he has been working on several projects, including the sequel to The Avengers and the TV show, S.H.I.E.L.D. Whedon also said that he still wants to do more Firefly and that it might be a possibility at some point.

Even though it isn't going to happen soon, Kickstarter is now another path Whedon could use to bring back Firefly in some form and that gives me more hope than I've had in years. There have been a lot of suggestions on continuing Firefly already. I'm in favor of an animated series, ala Star Trek: The Animated Series. Animation voice-overs would be easier to work around the actors' schedules and it might cost less. But only time will tell if we will get anymore Firefly at all.
