Today, we're thrilled to announce a project we've been working on for some time: WIRED by Design, a live magazine that will bring together some of the world's most creative minds, on September 29th-October 1st. It will be an intimate gathering designed to inspire both the speakers and attendees, and nestled on the stunning grounds of Skywalker Sound in Marin County, as well as at Lucasfilm's headquarters in the Presidio in San Francisco. To learn more, check out live.wired.com.

We've crafted the program with an eye towards one of WIRED's guiding principles. Design is far bigger than logos, gadgets, and clothes. It plays a defining role in nearly every facet of our lives, from buildings to films to music to food. Design lives inside the choices we make, in pursuit of artistry. This event will celebrate how good design shapes our futures.

To lead the talks, performances, workshops, and tastings, we've tapped a range of talents, including Marissa Mayer, CEO of Yahoo; Carlton Cuse, executive producer of Lost and co-creator of Bates Motel and The Strain; Sarah Stein Greenberg, managing director of Stanford's d.School; product designer and entrepreneur Yves Behar; architect Bjarke Ingels; the musician SIA; chef David Chang; and many others to be announced here in the coming weeks. The attendees will be no less vital to the event, and they'll include leaders in creative fields ranging from graphic design to science.

Last but not least: the setting. We scoured the Bay Area for a place that offered distance from distraction, and the best of Marin County's famous natural beauty. We settled on a jewel that few people get the chance to see: Skywalker Sound, a place purpose-built to be an inspiring setting for film artists.

We'll be rolling out stories featuring some of the creative minds that you see above in the coming weeks. In the meantime, click here for all the details.
