There are a lot of words in Star Wars: 1,695, to be exact, according to Tom Murphy, who has not only counted them all, but recut the film to present them in alphabetical order. It's a weirdly fascinating watch—there's nothing quite like hearing the word "to" recited 234 times in quick succession—but we've taken it a step further, and picked through to find exactly how popular each of our favorite heroes and villains is.
We also decided to count how many words appear only once in Star Wars. The answer, as it turns out, is a lot. We found and cataloged 853 in Murphy's video—that's over half the individual words in the film, and we're guessing we missed a few. What's really remarkable is how tightly many of those unique words are linked to their context; read "elegant" on the list, and you hear Alec Guinness's unforgettable voice. Our personal favorites: lightsaber (seriously?), parsecs, disturbance (again, Alec Guinness), flyboy, and Porkins. PORKINS!
