Holy crap, is Beyond Good & Evil 2 finally happening? Michel Ancel, creator of the cult classic 2003 action-adventure, posted this piece of concept art on Instagram this morning. Beyond Good & Evil's heroine was a human character named Jade, but any piece of art featuring a mechanically-inclined pig would make me think of Pey'j, Jade's surly porcine pal.
Just in case you think this is another case of a creator gone rogue, publisher Ubisoft tweeted the following en français:

After the original game ended with a cliffhanger, the Beyond Good & Evil franchise died an untimely death (odd, as Ubisoft generally loves annualizing its series). It announced the sequel in 2008, but nothing much has happened on that front since then. The original game's creative characters and intriguing storyline have long deserved a followup, so hopefully this portends an impending release tout de suite.
