Rachel Fairbank is a freelance science reporter based in Texas, who covers topics in health, fitness, and parenting. Before shifting into science writing, she trained as a geneticist, which included getting a bachelor’s in biology from Cornell University and completing the coursework for a Ph.D. in developmental biology at Baylor College of Medicine, after which she got an MFA in creative writing from the University of Houston.
