There are lots of reasons to be excited about Labor Day. (A long weekend! A last summer hurrah! Another chance to use the grill or hit the beach!) One of these many reasons is great sales, particularly for big-ticket items like mattresses. We test and review dozens of mattresses here at WIRED, covering everything from the best mattresses ever to which ones to use if you're a hot sleeper or suffer from back pain.

Not only do we test mattresses, we vet the sales and track pricing all year long, too. With that knowledge in hand, we've narrowed down the best sales you can shop right now if you're looking for a mattress, plus which models we recommend buying. We've even got some exclusive codes to use if you want better than the standard deal. So don't sleep on it, and get shopping. PS—all prices are for queen-size models.

Best Labor Day Mattress Sales

After vetting every mattress sale we've seen, and scoring a few custom codes, these are the best sale prices you'll find ahead of Labor Day. We'll update this guide as we get closer to Labor Day with any changes that might make these sales better (or worse!).

Photograph: Saatva; Getty Images
Saatva

Saatva's Labor Day sale has up to $600 off your purchase, depending on how much you spend. It's a solid deal, though we often see Saatva mattresses available for a similar price cut. But that becomes a great deal with our coupon link, which gives you a full $400 off the MSRP of any mattress. Usually you'd need to spend over $3,500 to get that big of a discount, and we often find these mattresses on sale for around $300 off, so this is a better price than we often find. You can either click here for all Saatva mattresses, or click on the links below to directly see the Saatva mattresses we love best. The coupon is automatically applied after you click one of these links.

Helix

Helix’s Labor Day sale is already underway, and you can get a slightly better discount—27 percent off instead of 25 percent—with the code WIRED27, plus two free Dream Pillows, a mattress protector, and a sheet set with any mattress purchase. You can apply the code during checkout. Helix makes some of our favorite all-around mattresses, including the Helix Midnight Luxe, our top pick from our Best Mattresses guide. The discount isn't the best we've seen this summer, but we're a huge fan of Helix's mattresses, and our code will get you a slightly better price than Helix's current sale. The $330 worth of bedding add-ons make it a good purchase, too.

Nolah

Nolah is another one whose mattresses we see on sale quite often, especially for the price it has right now. The site is running up to 35 percent off, plus two free pillows, but you can get an extra $100 off with the code WIRED100 (apply at checkout!) from now through Labor Day. Our favorite model from Nolah's offerings, the Evolution 15, is great for spine alignment if you're a side sleeper.

Birch

Birch is made by the same folks over at Helix, but the Birch line is eco-friendly and makes some of the best organic mattresses. Birch is running a 25 percent off sale plus two free pillows—Birch's discontinued Eco-Rest pillows, though, rather than the brand's newer pillow models—for any mattress purchase with the code LDW25. It's a similar sale to what we saw Birch run around the Fourth of July and Memorial Day, but still a solid deal.

Leesa

Leesa has made fantastic mattresses for years that tend to always find themselves as our top runner-up mattress recommendation. The Leesa Sapira Hybrid was our number two pick for years as a great all-around mattress, especially for the price, while the new Leesa Sapira Chill recently jumped into that spot with its added fantastic cooling cover. The sale is one we usually see around big sale events like Memorial Day, with up to 30 percent off and an included sleep bundle of two pillows and a microfiber sheet set.

Avocado

Avocado makes our favorite organic mattress, and for Labor Day the company is running an up-to-20-percent-off sale. The mattress that we recommend is 15 percent off, but only $100 off the usual price, since we often see a 10 percent discount for Avocado. This is a little better than we usually find and the same price we've seen for other big-deal events like Memorial Day.

Serta

Serta is an OG mattress brand—its sister brand invented the woven wire spring mattress, and a Serta doesn't come in a box when it's delivered to your door, unlike other newer mattresses. Its Perfect Sleeper mattress is our throwback fit, reminding us of the classic kind of mattress from years past, but with fully updated materials inside. Serta's Labor Day sale has up to $200 off Perfect Sleeper Mattresses, plus more discounts for other mattresses and base sets.

Casper

Casper is pretty famous in the mattress-in-a-box world. The brand recently remade its entire mattress line, and Casper's new base mattress, The One, is now our favorite all-foam mattress. It's already a super affordable mattress, but it's still on sale for Labor Day for a nice little discount. We usually see it for under $900, and now you can get it for $800.

Nectar

Nectar makes one of our favorite mattresses for relieving pressure-point pain at an affordable price. Even more affordable? The Labor Dale sale. Nectar is offering up to 40 percent off its mattresses, and our favored mattress is on sale. Make sure to go all the way to checkout to see the final discounted price, and the code nectar40 should be applied automatically.

Charles P. Rogers

Charles P. Rogers has been making mattresses for the better part of 200 years. It makes a handful of different mattresses, but we're major fans of the brand's newest model, the Tradition Mattress, especially if you have any kind of back pain. The inner layers are firm and supportive, but the soft pillowtop makes it plenty comfy for side sleepers. Charles P. Rogers is offering between 40 percent and 70 percent off mattresses and beds right now for Labor Day.

Other Labor Day Mattress Sales

These sales aren't as great as the ones above, and are often sales you can find year-round. Still, it's a fine price we'd usually recommend buying these mattresses for, even if it's not the best discount in town. We'll update this guide as we get closer to Labor Day with any changes.

Photograph: Plank
Brooklyn Bedding

I'm a recent convert to plank-style mattresses after trying Brooklyn Bedding's Plank Firm Natural mattress. But we like a few different firm mattresses from Brooklyn Bedding, all of which are on sale right now for 25 percent off with the code LABORDAY25. The code should be automatically applied when you add the mattress to your cart. But even with the sale, this is usually the price we see these mattresses listed for. Still, usually we recommend buying them at this price.

Cloverlane

Cloverlane is the luxury label from Resident Home, which makes a few different mattresses we recommend. One of its models we like is the Cloverlane Hybrid Luxury Firm, which has a spongy feel to it and excellent motion isolation. Cloverlane's mattresses recently increased in price, so it's not as low as we used to see it. But you can get a better discount if you use the code WIRED250 for an extra $250 off.

Bear

Bear makes our favorite side sleeper mattress, the Bear Elite. Bear is running an up to 35 percent off price right now, but the $1,499 price is one we usually see it available for, so it's not a particularly exciting sale. Still, it's the price we recommend scoring it for over the higher price tag it does go up to from time to time.

Purple

If you're a hot sleeper, start shopping: we think Purple makes the best cooling mattress. Purple's site has up to $500 off the Restore line, but our recommended mattress is only $300 off—and we often see it for $300 off anyway. Still, it's a great mattress if you want to sleep cooler at night.

Best Labor Day Bedding Deals

Photograph: Brooklinen
Brooklinen

Brooklinen is recommended all over our sheets guides, from linen to cooling to all our favorite sheets. Brooklinen also runs a ton of sales, and right now has everything 25 percent off, including several sheets we know and love. It's prices we see throughout the year, but still a good deal for great sheets. It's automatically added, no code required.

Cozy Earth

Cozy Earth makes some of the softest, most luxurious sheets we've ever tried. Cozy Earth makes all its bedding with bamboo viscose, which starts off feeling icy cool and then warms up around you, with a sensation like melted butter surrounding you as you sleep. Some of the brand's bedding is 20 percent off right now, including the sheet set we love.

The Citizenry

The Citizenry makes some of the best linen sheets we've ever tried. The home goods shop is running 20 percent off the entire site for Labor Day, from the bedding we know and love to rugs and even furniture. The Citizenry also just launched organic percale sheets a few weeks ago, and while we're still testing them, we already like the soft texture and light feel.
