With a month and a half to go before Batman and Superman beat each other up on the big screen, we've got a trailer that finally broadens out the world beyond our two caped combatants.

We're still coming to terms with Jeremy Irons as Alfred (he seems too ... vital? Too something...) but at least now we're seeing more of him in action. Also, Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman speaks! Actual words! Instead of cloying party-host Lex Luthor, we get menacing voiceover Lex, which gives some hope that Jesse Eisenberg can pull this off after all. And missing entirely is CGI baddy Doomsday, which is probably just as well, because we're here for the Bruce-Clark catfight.

The most encouraging moments among the two-minutes-plus, though, are in the opening salvo, which shows Batman doing Batman things to bad guys in a way that feels true to, well, Batman. It's fun to watch, and also a sign that maybe director Zach Snyder has figured out how to play in a different key.

Pause at: 1:06 for a Batmobile side-swipe. 1:23 for whatever's going on in that tub (???). 1:26 for Supes bare-handing a bullet. 1:42 for Wonder Woman jumping very far. 2:01 for Batman holding his own.
