Ebola is now curable
New drugs have been tested in a clinical trial in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which has been combating a year-long Ebola outbreak, and they appear to be working. Dramatically. For one of the drugs, the mortality rate for newly infected patients who take it dropped from 75 percent to just 6 percent. “From now on, we will no longer say that Ebola is incurable,” says Jean-Jacques Muyembe, director general of the institute that oversaw the trials.
